HELP REPEAL THE PATRIOT ACT - December 16, 2005

"Naturally, the common people don't want war... (but) it is always a simple matter to drag people along ... All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country. --Herman Goerring at the 1946 Nuremberg trials.

The "USA PATRIOT Act," meant as a temporary, emergency roll-back of American civil liberties after the 9/11 attacks, may become permanent this week. Senators from both parties are resisting the removal of these freedoms, but they need our support right now.

In the weeks after the World Trade Center attack, Congress felt the need to take drastic action. One of their most extreme steps was to restrict or eliminate a whole list of freedoms and liberties, which for generations have defined what it means to be an American. Many representatives didn't even read the "USA PATRIOT Act" before voting it into law. The only redeeming feature of the Act was that the repeal of these liberties would be temporary.

Now that the expiration date for those restrictions has arrived, Congressional leaders are trying to push through a new version which would extend the lifetime of some of them and make the others last forever.

Tell your Senator not to make the PATRIOT Act's emergency measures permanent. To send a message to your Senator, go to:

new old music clips the steve williams trio - November 12, 2005

These tracks were recorded mostly live in Steve's basement in Sandy Springs GA in june of 2001. I'm not sure of the day because I was living in my van down by the river at the time- but Steve, who is an incredibly gifted drummer(and filmmaker), introduced fred williams and I; somebody had a sack, and Steve wanted some background music for his film projects. I had nowhere else to be, and steve was letting me sleep in the basement, not sure what fred's deal was, except that he was a fabulous musician, (and a nice guy) and must like playing with steve as much as I do. Anyway we proceeded to play a few tunes of mine and then we made some up and this is what we got. we had fun.
later fred added some other parts. can't really remember what he played originally on the initial tracks and what he played later- he swapped it up a bit and I like it. check it out.

Great Time in Snowmass! - September 13, 2005

We had a fun time at the JAS After Dark Festival. Didn't see much of the Leadville crowd over there, but we made some new friends and new fans. The folks in Snowmass really treated us right. Thanks to the crew at the Mountain Dragon, David Tash of Foothills Audio & Production, and our sound man Brian, for making everything groovy.

boom days wet but wild - August 12, 2005

Well, Boom Days here in Leadville was once again a blow out party, with Groovespeak playing on saturday night. Andy and the guys on Chicken Hill had a great stage built and covered well, which was fortunate, since it poured rain for the first 2 sets. Regardless; we jammed and the small but mighty crowd was great, and we were all treated to a short break in the rain during our 2nd set, during which we were all blown away by the incredible sunset, acompanied by a vivid double rainbow to the east. WOW!
doesn't get any better. Thanks to Andy and all the folks that helped make this a gig to remember.
I will try to get some song clips online from the last gig so check back soon.
